What are Clogged Pores?

Our skin naturally produces oils that contain fat and dead particles. This is removed or escaped through the pores. The problem is when those pores are clogged, instead of disappearing, the unwanted oil, dirt, etc..  becomes acne, cysts, whiteheads, and blackheads.

You may not develop acne, however, clogged pores may ruin the smooth texture of your skin and make it appear dull. We definitely don’t want that!

So, what are your options? Even if you go to a dermatologist or cosmetologist every month, you still need to stick to a routine to prevent and keep your pores in perfect shape. This is an everyday job. For this reason, we're going to show you how to use Jess Beauty products to clear your pores and get gorgeous, radiant skin.

Things that are a big NO when it comes to pores

First things first, before we discuss the best techniques and products to unclog and thoroughly clean your pores, make sure you're avoiding these harmful methods of treating blemishes and clogged pores:

Three behaviors, namely picking, popping and extracting can be detrimental to your skin. Popping leads to inflammation and the formation of scars, as well as discoloration and redness, while aggressively removing blackheads may cause skin irritation and leave behind scars and patches of dark skin. Therefore, it is advisable to practice mild skin care that does not harm your skin in the process.

How To Deep Clean Your Pores

EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN

Your blocked pores are generally caused by dead skin cells. To get rid of it , you need to exfoliate regularly. Depending on your skin type, exfoliate once or twice a week. Please be cautious when exfoliating! Doing it excessively can cause irritation and harm your skin, potentially worsening your acne.

There are two methods for skin exfoliation. You can exfoliate manually using a brush or sponge, but this can be harsh on your skin due to the intense cleaning required. Instead, we advise using a chemical exfoliant along with some baby washcloths. Chemical exfoliants are less harsh and yet provide the same results!

A chemical exfoliant like Mandelic acid, a gentle Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), is highly effective for unclogging pores without causing irritation. Its greater molecular size allows for slower penetration, making it ideal for sensitive skin. Mandelic acid exfoliates softly, removing impurities and promoting brighter, smoother skin.

Other chemical exfoliants like Salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and lactic acid are helpful at clearing clogged pores. Salicylic acid dissolves debris in pores, glycolic acid exfoliates the skin's surface, and mandelic acid softly eliminates impurities without causing irritation.

LOOK FOR A SUPERB CLEANSER

Which cleanser should you use? Select a gentle cleanser that doesn't include alcohol, sulphates, or essential oils. If you don’t have oily skin, a good option is to double cleanse at night, this is great especially when you wear a lot of makeup. For doing a double cleanse, we recommend to use an oil cleanser first to remove dirt and makeup, and then use a different cleanser for a deeper clean.

Either you choose a one or two step cleaning, you need to get a powerful but delicate cleanser like Face Reset, by containing squalane and hyaluronic acid this amazing product cleans pores deeply without harming your skin.

USE A RETINOL SERUM

Retinol is currently very popular, for good reason. It is one of the most effective anti-aging elements by increasing your skin’s collagen levels, which realigns the skin and minimizes the visibility of pores.

Retinol Serum encourages cell turnover, thickening your skin and preventing pore-clogging from dead skin cells. It reduces oil production, increases collagen, and decreases dead skin cells on the skin's surface, resulting in smaller-looking pores.

Since retinol is a potent but delicate ingredient, in Jess Beauty we developed two retinol choices. Age Rewind for early starters in this journey, a formula enriched with bakuchiol, niacinamide, and panthenol. And Timeless Skin for more experienced users, with Panthenol and Hyaluronic Acid. So wherever you are right now in your retinol journey, Jess Beauty has your back!

USE EVERYDAY SPF SUNSCREEN

Sunscreen is essential at all times, for all skin types, particularly important for pore health. Knowing this, we’ve developed two SPFs with the ultimate technology and high quality ingredients, such as Aloe vera, Camellia sinensis and Carota Sativa. You can choose between Let it Sun with a matte gel consistency or Sun Drops with a silky oil texture.

#JessbeautyTip: We all love face masks and DIY recipes but be careful! They may contain harsh substances that could decrease your skin's natural oils. Better safe with tested formulas, than sorry right?

Are you prepared to expel all of that dirt from your pores? It's time to reclaim your gorgeous skin by removing dead skin cells, dirt, and oil. Use these suggestions to achieve your skincare goals and feel more confident.
