What is Squalane?

Squalane is a natural compound found in our bodies and various organisms, including plants and sharks. It quickly absorbs into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling, helping to hydrate and soften the skin. Additionally, it improves the appearance of dry and rough skin.

It has antioxidant properties, which means it can help protect against free radicals and oxidative stress. This can help reduce premature skin aging and signs of damage caused by environmental factors.

Squalane is naturally found in our bodies and is an important component of sebum, the substance that helps lubricate and protect the skin. It is also found in various plants such as olive oil, rice, and sugarcane. Historically, it was obtained from the livers of sharks, but nowadays it is sustainably produced from plant sources.

You can find it in products such as facial serums, moisturizers, body oils, and lip balms. It is also used as an ingredient in hair care products and cosmetics.
