What is Xanthan Gum?

Xanthan gum is obtained through the fermentation of sugar with a bacteria called Xanthomonas campestris. This gum acts as a thickener and stabilizer.

Xanthan gum is commonly found in creams, lotions, and personal care products. It helps maintain texture and prevents ingredients from separating. Although it is industrially produced, it is derived from bacterial fermentation and is not naturally found in plants or animals. Xanthan gum itself is the active ingredient, and its ability to form gels and provide viscosity makes it valuable in product formulation.
