What is Sage?


The Latin name Salvia comes from the word salvare, which means “to heal”. Sage it’s a bush, typically from mediterranean areas. It’s rich in calcium, vitamin A, Carnosic acid and Ursolic acid, all of them highly beneficial substances for the skin.

Sage is widely recognized for its medicinal properties, in the same way, when it comes to skin issues this herb can help to heal athlete’s foot and chapped skin and relieves symptoms of eczema and psoriasis.

  

Benefits:

Regulates sebum production: which makes it ideal for treating acne, preventing clogged pores and breakouts.

Anti inflammatory: Sage has potent anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, making it effective in treating acne and other skin conditions. It helps reduce redness and inflammation, promoting a clearer complexion.

Antibacterial: Contains compounds that promote healing, eliminates unwanted organisms and soothes irritated skin. It is beneficial for treating minor wounds, cuts, and skin irritations, providing a calming effect.

Repairs sun damage: Carnosic acid, found in sage, can be used to treat the UVA and UVB skin damage. As well as, prevent future damage that can be done through sun overexposure.

Cell regeneration: due to its richness in calcium and vitamin A, sage helps to renew cells every day, minimising and delaying the onset of facial wrinkles.

Increases blood circulation: Increased blood circulation helps to eliminate toxins stored by the body. This can be beneficial to improve overall skin appearance.

Antioxidant: Sage is rich in antioxidants, which help combat free radicals that can cause premature aging. These antioxidants protect the skin from environmental stressors, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
