What is Polyglutamic Acid?

Polyglutamic acid (PGA) is a naturally occurring biopolymer derived from fermented soybeans. It is a hydrating compound known for its remarkable ability to retain moisture in the skin. Structurally, it is a polymer of the amino acid glutamic acid and has a high molecular weight, allowing it to form a protective film on the skin's surface.

Benefits:

Intense Hydration: Polyglutamic acid can hold up to 5,000 times its weight in water, making it one of the most potent moisturizing agents in skincare. It provides intense hydration, leaving the skin plump, smooth, and supple.

Improves Skin Elasticity: By maintaining optimal moisture levels, polyglutamic acid helps improve skin elasticity, making the skin appear firmer and more youthful.

Enhances Skin Barrier Function: Polyglutamic acid strengthens the skin's natural barrier, protecting it from environmental stressors and reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

Boosts the Efficacy of Other Ingredients: It can enhance the effectiveness of other hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid by forming a hydrating layer on the skin, which helps lock in moisture and prolong hydration.

Exfoliates Gently: PGA has mild exfoliating properties that help in sloughing off dead skin cells, promoting a smoother and brighter complexion.
