What are neuropeptides?

Neuropeptides are small chains of amino acids that act as signaling molecules in the body, particularly in the brain and nervous system. In skin care, neuropeptides are used for their ability to communicate with skin cells and influence processes such as collagen production, hydration and skin repair.

In other words, neuropeptides act as messengers that tell the skin how to behave. For example, when they tell the facial muscles to relax, the result is a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

Benefits:

Hydration: Neuropeptides promote better water retention in the skin, which helps keep the skin hydrated and reduces the appearance of dryness and flakiness.

Improves skin barrier function: By preventing moisture loss, neuropeptides can help strengthen the skin's natural barrier. At the same time, it protects the skin from environmental aggressors such as pollution and UV damage.

Anti-Aging: As mentioned above, neuropeptides help stimulate collagen and elastin production, the function of these proteins in the skin is to maintain its firmness.

Soothing and Calming: Maracuja oil has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe irritated or inflamed skin, making it suitable for sensitive skin types and those with conditions like eczema or rosacea.

Improves skin elasticity: Also by increasing collagen and elastin levels, neuropeptides help to improve skin elasticity, making the skin appear more lifted and supple.

Muscle Relaxation: Some neuropeptides, such as Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 (commonly known as Argireline), are known for their ability to reduce muscle contractions, which can soften the appearance of expression lines, especially around the forehead and eyes.

Brightens and evens Skin Tone: Regular use of this ingredient can lead to improved skin tone and texture by stimulating cell turnover and skin regeneration.
