What is Cetearyl Alcohol?

Cetearyl Alcohol is a type of fatty alcohol derived from natural fats such as coconut or palm oils. Although it is called "alcohol," it should not be confused with drying and astringent alcohols that can dry out the skin. On the contrary, Cetearyl Alcohol acts as an emollient and conditioner that helps soften and condition.

Its main active components are the fatty acids that make up its molecular structure. These fatty acids, such as lauric acid and stearic acid, have moisturizing and conditioning properties that benefit the skin and hair.

It is commonly found in a variety of skincare and hair care products, such as moisturizers, conditioners, body lotions, and hand creams. It is used as an ingredient to help emulsify and stabilize formulas, as well as to provide hydration and softness.

Benefits:

Long-lasting Hydration: Acts as an emollient agent that helps retain moisture.

Softness and conditioning: Helps soften the skin and hair, leaving them feeling smooth and conditioned.

Texture Improvement: Contributes to improving the texture of the skin and hair, making them softer and silkier to the touch.

Formula Stabilization: Helps stabilize cosmetic formulations, enhancing the texture and consistency of the products.

Enhances the Efficacy of Other Ingredients: This can boost the efficacy of other active ingredients by aiding in better penetration into the skin and hair.
