What is Benzoyl Peroxide?

Benzoyl peroxide is a common topical treatment widely used in skincare, particularly for acne management. It's an antimicrobial agent that works by killing bacteria on the skin's surface, primarily the bacteria responsible for acne, Propionibacterium acnes. Benzoyl peroxide also has keratolytic properties, meaning it helps to exfoliate the skin and unclog pores, which further reduces acne breakouts.

Benefits:

Acne Treatment: Benzoyl peroxide is highly effective at treating acne by reducing the bacteria that cause breakouts and helping to clear pores.

Anti-Inflammatory: It reduces inflammation and redness associated with acne, helping to calm the skin and reduce the appearance of active breakouts.

Exfoliation: Helps to remove dead skin cells, promoting skin renewal and preventing clogged pores, which can lead to blackheads and whiteheads.

Preventing Future Breakouts: Regular use of benzoyl peroxide can prevent future acne breakouts by keeping the skin clear of the bacteria and dead skin cells that contribute to acne formation.
