What is Algae Extract?

Algae are a group of aquatic organisms capable of photosynthesis. They lack roots, stems, leaves and multicellular reproductive structures characteristic of plants. Their photosynthetic pigments are also more varied than those of plants and their cells have particularities not found in plants and animals.

They are rich in antioxidants, essential fatty acids such as linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid. They also contain minerals such as zinc and selenium. When used in skin care products, these components translate into numerous benefits.

To make seaweed extract, these organisms are harvested and processed to extract their active compounds. This process may include crushing, grinding and filtering to obtain nutrient-rich extracts. The algae extract may be composed of:

- Chlorophytes (green algae)

- Rhodophytes (red algae)

- Phaeophytes (brown algae).

- Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae).

Benefits:

Detoxification: helps stimulate circulation and detoxify the skin by eliminating impurities and toxins.

Moisturizing: It is an excellent ingredient to add and retain moisture in the skin, as it possesses large amounts of fatty acids.

Anti-aging: Rich in antioxidants, seaweed extract helps protect the skin from free radical damage and helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots, leaving the skin looking younger and more radiant.

Strengthens the skin barrier: It also contains minerals such as zinc and selenium, which help strengthen the skin barrier and reduce inflammation.

Soothing: The anti-inflammatory properties of seaweed help soothe irritated skin and reduce redness.

Nourishing: Seaweed provides a wide range of essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, lipids, minerals, trace elements and proteins to help deeply nourish the skin.

Improves skin tone and elasticity: By providing minerals and other essential nutrients, algae extract prevents collagen breakdown, tightening the skin, improving skin elasticity and making it look firmer and younger.
